AlterRed “DollsTown”
DollsTown is the second studio album from London based electro-creeps AlterRed. Following on from their 2011 debut album “Mind-forged Manacles”, the band are continuing further down the rabbit hole with this, thier latest release. “DollsTown” is a twisted mixture of darkwave, synth-pop and dark electro - cabaret, AlterRed bring a new wave of dark and sinister sounds that excite and entice the ears.
DollsTown opens with its title track and delivers an instant infectious vibe, to which there appears to be no cure, and why would you want one?
With a deathly tragic undercurrent the album flows through tails of love, lust and lunacy, accompanied with unforgetable melodies and club tinged electro beats. In addition to its creepy carousel of sounds Mikey’s strong clean vocal work gives a certain mischief to each song.
“DollsTown” is a dark electro cabaret, while “Different face” is a punchy guitar driven statement with commanding beats and a quirky piano sequence, it is instantly catchy and highly melodic. “Eve” is a twisted, macabre electro ode to the alter ego, which creeps and twirls with its haunting piano keys, strings and threatening synth beats. “In recovery” is an up tempo synthpop track which could easily follow the likes of Covenant and Depeche Mode, another instant hit that is sure to get people to the dancefloor. “Rebuild Rewired” hints to the inspiration of “IAMX” and displays Mikey’s intelligent and playful lyrics along with the bands energetic electronica and club cabaret.
This is a wonderful collection of dark electro synth pop that is bound to put a smile on anyone's face. It’s catchy, theatrical and delightfully macabre, AlterRed have proven once again that insanity can prevail.
To coincide with the release of the new album the band will launch a video of the title track of the album, “DollsTown”. In addition to this there will also be free-to-download E.P. entitled “The Electro Creepshow”.
AlterRed will also take their theatrical live show on a UK tour, the aptly named “DollsTour”, kicks off with their album launch show on the 4th May 2012. Next they will continue throughout the UK as support for The Cruxshadows. Full details of the tour dates and album information can be found below:
